Content from the social platform TikTok has made mainstream news during the current COVID-19 crisis: from a Vietnamese handwashing dance to Britain’s biggest TikTokers raving together in lockdown to a remix of the BBC news theme.
Fun? Yes, but global agencies including the World Health Organisation have also used TikTok to help spread important public health messages to a young audience.
This session is a topical introduction to TikTok for producers and journalists with little or no knowledge of the platform. Join us to learn about what makes TikTok different from other social networks, the key functionalities and inspiring examples of content.
